What does “sugar-free” mean?
Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, food may only be called “sugar-free” if it contains no more than 0.5 g of sugars per 100 g or 100 ml. We use exactly that limit: every product here is below it, however it is marketed.
Is “no added sugar” the same?
No. “No added sugar” only means none was added. Natural sugar, from fruit or milk for example, can still be plentiful. We list such products only if their total sugar stays below 0.5 g per 100 g/ml.
Are the products sweetened?
Many are – every product page lists the sweeteners we found in the ingredients, such as sucralose, stevia or erythritol. “No sweeteners” shows products without any.
Where does the data come from?
Nutrition facts come from Open Food Facts, an open database where people enter what the packaging says. We check every product before it appears here. Recipes change, though – the packaging is what counts.
A product is missing. What can I do?
Tell us via “Suggest a product”. A barcode makes it quickest.
